What is a Progressive?

WHAT'S A PROGRESSIVE?
Progressives put "We, the People" first, before profits and special interests, and believe the common good is necessary for individual well-being. Progressives meet life's challenges cooperatively, democratically, holistically and nonviolently with solutions that maximize liberty, imagination, leadership, justice, sustainability and respect for all.

WHAT IS THE SPACE COAST PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE (SCPA)?
We are a local, grassroots, nonpartisan but politically active, Internet-based group of individual members, primarily from Brevard and Indian River Counties. We are a Florida nonprofit coporation financially supported by membership dues and donations. We are public interest advocates for environmental protection, healthcare, public education, fair labor and trade, human rights and civil liberties, peace and social juistice, Clean Elections and more.

WHAT DOES THE SPACE COAST PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE DO?
(1) SCPA enhances the work of existing groups by sharing information to build visibility and wider support for each other's issues.  
(2) We engage and activate progressive citizens.  
(3) We start new groups and act as catalyst where there is a need for greater public awareness to build support for outcomes that serve the greater public interest.
4) We sponsor socials, progressive movie nights, book club discussions, the popular information-sharing Annual Progressive Fest, and the Annual Progressive Celebration with awards and noted speakers.  
5) We annually present Awards of Recognition to individuals and organizations who have acted for the greater public interest.

Progressive organizations use the SCPA website to disseminate information about their activities, distribute alerts and recruit support for their cause.
