1st Thursday program idea?

Written by  1st Thursday Team

Got an idea for a 1st Thursday program?

Send us email and suggest a program idea!

We'll reply with a handy-dandy program proposal form for you to complete and return to us for review. We will want to know why you think this program is super good, why folks should be interested in it, who the presenter will be, and financial costs, if any -- plus some other related information. Like if YOU're willing to help make it happen.

FROM IDEA TO PROGRAM

There are lots of good ideas for programs -- more than can be accommodated at SCPA's current rate of one program per month. The hard part is translating 'idea' into defined program. Without that definition, the idea remains only a good idea. The purpose of SCPA's program proposal form and the accompanying rating process is to facilitate the translation of idea into defined proposal, something of substance, that can then be rated and prioritized against other competing proposals. Thus, an idea may become an actual live program. This format arose out of First Thursday Program Planning Committee discussion on April 19, 2013, and is subject to ongoing modification. The procedure was adopted by the SCPA Board of Directors in early 2013.

SPECIAL PRIORITIES FOR 2014

For 2014, SCPA is especially interested in programs having to do with three recently identified priority concerns: Environment, Democracy, and Just Economy. Highlighted subjects are Indian River Lagoon, Voting Rights, 2014 Elections, and collaborations with other organizations.

PROGRAM FORMATS

Programs can be panel discussions, films, presentations by individuals or groups -- or anything interesting that is doable. Time limit is approximately 1.5 hours.

REVIEW OF PROPOSALS

Proposals are reviewed and rated monthly as received, by the SCPA 1st Thursday Program Planning Committee.
